Brave Horse Hosts Largest Show to Date

Brave Horse Show Park reached capacity for Week III of the Summer Series, producing compelling competition in the hunter and jumper rings at all levels. Despite about 2 inches of rainfall during the first two days of the show the footing and drainage systems kept the rings competition ready and the show went on without interruption. The reward at the end of the weekend was a picture perfect Sunday for horse showing, with cool breezes and sunshine throughout the final day.

In the jumper ring Charlotte Clark and her own Kinsella claimed the $1,500 1.25m-1.30m Welcome Prix. Sunday’s $5,000 Jumper Prix was won by Sean Jobin aboard Darius, owned by Foxridge Farms Stables. Jobin rode his own Banco Du Moulin to 2nd place in the class as well.

In the new Ohio Derby Cup Series, Ohio-based Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic, Chagrin Valley Farms and Brave Horse have partnered to create a special class that will run April through August of this year. The Series offers derby-style competition for exhibitors in divisions at 2’, 2’6” and 3’-3’5” hunter/jumper levels. The top 25 riders at each fence height are eligible for the finals to be held at Brave Horse VI, August 30 – September 2, 2018. Winners will be named by fence height and will receive prizes and prize money. Brave Horse will hold Ohio Derby Cup classes at every show while the Chagrin Hunter Jumper Classic will host Ohio Cup at its July 5-15 show and Chagrin Valley Farms will occur at its August 3-5 show.

The pair also won the OHJA Medal 2’0” and 2’6” height, making for a very successful weekend.

Pony riders and their trainers were particularly plentiful during Week III given the fact this was the last weekend for qualifying points for pony finals in August. Giada Deligatti rode Training Wheels LLC’s Hot Wheels to the blue ribbon in the Children’s Hunter Pony Classic. Deligatti and Hot Wheels are trained by Adie Amorose.

Hunter/jumper action reconvenes July 19-22 for the USEF National A Rated Brave Horse Summer Series Week IV. The Mid Ohio Dressage Association is next up at Brave Horse Show Park when it hosts its MODA Classic I & II July 13-15.
